FAQs
Developing & scanning
-
We currently develop 35mm and 120 C-41 colour negative film. For 35mm, we accept 24- or 36-exposure rolls. 4×5 and 8×10 aren’t available just yet. Not sure what you have? Get in touch before ordering and we’ll help you check.
-
Choose development only if you just need your film processed and your negatives returned. Choose develop + scan if you’d like full-resolution digital scans as well. You can select either option on the product page.
-
Yes — that’s what Scan Only is for. Choose 35mm or 120, then select uncut roll or cut strips to match the film you’re sending. Your originals are returned in the same format, with return postage charged separately.
-
Yes. For development with scans, choose Log, Cine or Classic when ordering. One look is included. If you’re not sure which suits your photos, get in touch — we’re happy to help.
Digital to Film
-
Also called film-out, it turns your digital images into real 35mm colour negative film. We record your images onto film, then develop and scan the roll. Film, recording, development, scans and digital delivery are included. You can also choose to have the negatives returned.
-
Each roll has 36 exposures. You’re welcome to send fewer images, but they’ll still use a whole roll. For more than 36 images, order additional rolls.
Your negatives
-
With Develop Only and Scan Only orders, yes — returning your film is part of the service, with postage charged separately. For Develop + Scan and Digital to Film, simply choose whether you’d like your negatives returned when ordering.
-
For Scan Only, your film is returned in the format you send: uncut rolls stay uncut, and cut strips stay as cut strips. Return postage is calculated at checkout.
-
Not necessarily. Your digital scans and the return of your film are separate steps. A download link means your digital files are ready; it doesn’t mean your negatives have been posted yet.
-
Negatives not selected for return are stored for 3 months from completion of the order, after which they may be securely disposed of.
Postage & orders
-
We combine returned rolls across developing, scanning and Digital to Film in the same order. Return postage depends on the number of rolls and whether they are returned as cut strips or uncut rolls. Rolls you choose not to have returned don’t add postage. You’ll see the final charge at checkout.
-
Yes — it covers the returned rolls already in your cart across the supported services. Add your selections first, then check “Total return postage for your cart (estimate)”. Use Refresh if needed. The estimate is a guide; checkout confirms the final charge.
-
Return postage covers the trip from our lab back to you. You’ll need to arrange and pay for sending your film to us separately.

Select the quantity you need on each service page. Planning a large job? Get in touch before ordering and we’ll talk through timing and return postage.
